Some of the older porcelain dental crowns may contain metal. Such crowns are known as metal-supported porcelain (MSP) and are used to improve the aesthetic appeal and durability of teeth. In MSP crowns, a metal substructure is added to the porcelain and this substructure gives the tooth more durability.
